Based in Perth Western Australia, the West Coast Rottweiler Club of W.A. Inc is the official State Breed Club affiliated with the National Rottweiler Council of Australia, the Canine Association of Western Australia - Dogs West and the Australian National Kennel Council.
The club was first formed in 1984 by Keith and Jo Peckham, Rob and Chris Axten and Peter Romney. It was known as The Rottweiler Club of WA. The club held its inaugural show in 1989 and in 1991 the club was Incorporated and its name changed to the West Coast Rottweiler Club Inc. The name was again changed a few years later to The West Coast Rottweiler Club of Western Australia Inc. as it is today.
Objects of the Club
To promote, protect, advance and improve the Rottweiler breed.
To promote and facilitate responsible ownership in Rottweilers.
To educate and encourage members, breeders, exhibitors and judges to abide by the Standard approved for the Rottweiler by the Australian National Kennel Council.
To promote and encourage the training and exhibition of Rottweilers, and to hold such fixtures as permitted by the Canine association of Western Australia Inc.
To encourage and facilitate the participation of Western Australian Rottweiler fanciers in international and interstate Rottweiler events.
To encourage, foster and assist in scientific research into hereditary diseases within the breed.
To foster relations with other clubs having similar objects.
To act as the primary representative of Western Australian Rottweiler fanciers in dealing with Governments.
The property and income of the Association shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects or purposes of the association and no part of that property or income may be paid or otherwise distributed, directly or indirectly, to members of the association, except in good faith in the promotion of these objects or purposes. A great deal of the club’s efforts are directed towards the improvement of the Rottweiler, particularly in respect of the elimination of hereditary diseases. All club members are required to comply with a strict Code of Ethics and comply with all National Rottweiler Council (Australia) requirements before breeding their dogs. Activities undertaken by the club include Conformation Shows, Obedience and Agility
